Merry Christmas

After an exhausting week of Christmas, I can finally get on a wish everyone a belated "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!" We had 4 Christmases is a roll. It was so fun seeing the family and spending time with everyone. My kiddo's LOVED there gifts and we have been playing with all the new things ever since. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves.

My kids opening their Santa sack full of toys.

Our First Big Snow

Last week we had our first big snow of the season and the kids loved it! I couldn't get them in the house. They got out of school 2 days early due to bad weather but they weren't complaining ha ha. If the weather stays like it is we will be having a white Christmas.
On Saturday we hosted our company Christmas party and today we had my Dad's family Christmas party so I am worn out. Tomorrow we are planning on a little lite shopping and then seeing a movie. After a crazy weekend of parties I need a slow day!

Christmas Cookies

Last night we started our Christmas cookies.
We rolled and cut out dozens of gingerbread cookies.

We waited for them to cool.
I gathered my helpers to ice the stacks of cookies.
After all the work here are the finished products. I had a ball watching there creative little minds working. They competed over who's cookie was better.

Remember, I didn't haha!
I have spent an hour helping my son study for up coming finals for Algebra. I HATED Algebra in high school and it seems to run in the family haha. Next I have to help my youngest with his homework. I know his won't challenge me. God help me if I can't do second grade homework lol.

See the difference. I am going to have to brush up on Algebra before tomorrow. We have to start studying Chapter 4.

Last night I made some ornaments for an upcoming ornament exchange. I love messing with clay. It reminds me of my childhood days playing play-doh for hours on end. I still have to make 9 more ornaments for my advent calender, and was asked by my  nephew last night if I could make him one. I guess I'm making one more calender. Wish me luck, the last one about did me in haha.
This is my happy tree

Here is my Santa

Follow the Star

This is my grandpa
Friday night my Aunt and I took the kids to "Follow the Star" at my grandparents church. It was so neat. You are assigned a family and then travel to Bethlehem. You have to pass the Roman soldiers (which scared my youngest. lots of yelling). Then we meet the 3 wise men and they told of there journey in search of a new born king.We followed the path and meet Shepard's and the angel Gabriel appeared and told us of the birth of Jesus. We went to the town of Bethlehem and then found Mary, Joseph, and Jesus in a stable. They had live animals which my boys loved. The camels where amazing. We really enjoyed ourselves, and can't wait to do it next year.

Advent Calender

I have been trying to do an advent calender for my kids. I got the idea from a fellow blogger homemade by Jill, who made a challenge to anyone willing to do it. I have poked myself millions of times with the needle. I have screamed, and trashed felt ornaments ,and swore I would never do this again. haha . I am not finished but I am getting closer so I thought I would post some pictures of my progress so far.
I finally got it done!

Happy Thanksgiving

I know that I am posting this early, but I am going to be extremely busy for the next couple of days preparing for Thanksgiving and I don't know if I will have time to get on here. I Wish you and your families a very Blessed Thanksgiving.

We put our tree up tonight. I love this time of year. My kids are getting bigger and it seems like time just flies by. It's little moments like putting ornaments on a tree together that I truly cherish. I get so sentimental when I see there little master pieces of years ago. My favorite ornament of my 15 year old was his hand print when he was 5. My favorite from my 7 year old is his first clay ornament he made when he was 2. It seems like only yesterday we where celebrating  Their first Christmas.
 See they are adorable!
Two years ago we had my oldest blow his own glass ornament. That was a blast!
I would like to show you all my Christmas box. My mother-in-law, made this for me last year for Christmas. It is absolutely beautiful. You have to check out her blog.

school project

finished project

My husband and son surprised us by making the cutest tee-pee for a class project. They used felt, glue, yarn, and sticks from our yard.

I have to share this joke with all my blogger friends who have husbands like mine. I hope you enjoy it.
A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day… 30,000 to a man’s 15,000. The wife replied, “The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men. The husband then turned to his wife and asked, “What?”

I am asking for help from everyone. I am hosting Thanksgiving this year and I'm looking for some recipe ideas. Anything would be helpful.

I  FINALLY made a necklace! I have been meaning to, and meaning to, and then I got into felting and oops.... anyway tada!!!!! haha  I keep looking ahead going "oh wait, the holidays are coming." I have to do ornaments soon, and cookies, and fudge, and candy,..... I don't know how I will balance crafting and the holidays, but I can't wait to jump into it all.
Sophie (the dog) loved this, Callie (the cat) not so much haha!
With the holidays rapidly approaching, I thought I would show off last years Christmas card picture. I am trying to top it and I would love some ideas. I'm thinking elves this year.

While drinking my morning coffee, I looked out the window to see 2 deer grazing in the backyard. I love living in the country.

Family Fun

We went to my Grandparents house for a bonfire/hayride. I love looking at my grandma's fairy houses she makes from rocks. They are so cute!

Then we celebrated Nana's birthday with a Harry Potter cake. The bakery that made it is our families favorite bakery. They made my sons cake for his birthday as well and it was an Ipod. Anyway what a fun family weekend.

Why oh Why

Have you ever had one of these days where you could pull your hair out and its not even 9 in the morning. I have been trying to get over a sinus infection (the weather is not wanting to help) so I have not been feeling good. I woke up at 5:30 as usual to start the kids off to school. My oldest tried to sleep in haha but I got him to the bus on time, my youngest however woke up whiny, feverish, and coughing.  Every mom knows what that means. A kid at home with a possible trip to the doctor. I starting meds for the fever and calmly telling him he will be fine. (he is a worrier lol) After what felt like an eternity the coughing calmed down, fever disappeared and a hyper 7 year old was left. (Normally my baby is so sweet, but when he is sick watch out!) I made a doctor appt. cleaned spilled juice, toys, and what ever food was dropped while trying and stress trying to keep him laying down. ( I swear Tylenol makes him way more hyper) He crashed for a nap and I was left with an hour of peace. Unfortunately that meant an hour to clean do dishes and get in the shower before leaving for a doctors appt. After doctors, store for prescription, and shopping for dinner(which ended up being pajamas and a toy) I opted to pick up chick-fil-la, head home and crash on the couch and try to get rid off the beginning of a massive headache. I thought by the time I got home my oldest son and my husband would be home. Haha. My oldest was home from school, but  had 10 kids over playing football( which immediately set the youngest into a "why can't I play" plead) and my husband had a late meeting. Unable to lay down I played a game with youngest, while we ate and waited for daddy to come home. After what I would call an exhausting day(please remember that I am sick as well, which we found out at the doctors that I have his cold on top of my sinus infection), I  have finally managed to have the house in order and I'm getting ready for bed. I know I will have another interesting day because my youngest still has a fever and it looks like I will have company tomorrow haha.

More Felting

I am trying very hard to come up with some cute felting ideas. Today I made a soda can, and a piece of ham & cheese loaf(I am working on the container for it). I fixed the lettuce, and the tomato slice but I still don't like my tomato. I really enjoy doing this but I think I get frustrated because I want to be better than I am. I have ideas pouring out of my head but I just can't get it right so I am working on patience too lol. My son looked at the new things and said "Is all this for me!" It just made me melt. I love my kids!!!!

Everyday Life

I spent the whole day at  appts. for kids and pets. I have a killer headache, and am exhausted. I am going to call it an early night. I am still working on my felt food. Tonight I am trying to perfect my stitching. I have so many cool ideas in my head I just hope I can get it done right. It is so hard to try and figure out how to make it work. I have to say that I am having a blast though.

Today I tried making play food out of felt. I started with a pizza, then I did a sandwich and a drumstick. I actually enjoyed it!!! I try to avoid things that require hand sewing but after mastering a blanket stitch everything was a breeze. I am now trying to think of other things to make. Preston is ecstatic with his new toys haha. I had to give up tonight because my hands are aching lol.

Caramel Apples

Today my son and I decided to make homemade caramel apples for our Halloween get together. I had so much fun watching him cook. He wore a little apron and was the boss of the kitchen. I love moments like this. He worked hard and they tasted soooooo good. He may have a career as a chef lol. He is already asking when we can start our Christmas cookies. He is always my little helper. We had a fun filled day of cooking and then we got dressed up to go trick or treating. My youngest was a Jedi, my oldest was Facebook, (very clever by the way) and I just wore a glow mask lol. After walking FOREVER in the cold, we headed home to unload the goodies. I know my kids are in bed fighting off a sugar high and trying hard to go to sleep. It's only once a year so I always let them enjoy. I will probably regret this decision tomorrow though. haha

You Gotta Laugh

Today while driving to our camp to close it for winter, our truck decided it had had enough and died. We were stopped on the side of the highway. While waiting for Triple A to come, we decided to explore the area around us and found a deer antler. After 2 hours of waiting and exploring, the tow truck showed up, and we could leave when my son who is 7 remarked "this has been a really great day!" Who knew being stranded by the side of the road would be so enjoyable lol. I have a bowl in our living room where we keep our "great finds" as my son calls them, so we added the antler to it. You just have to laugh. It does make you stop and realize how life could be so simple with a 7 year old attitude.

Spending Some Family Time

Our finished pumpkins
What an amazing month. Last night we carved our pumpkins preparing for Halloween. The kids love this sooo much. I love the ideas that they come up with in there minds. I always let them be creative, it's just hard stepping back and watching my kids with a knife lol. I can't wait for the upcoming Holidays and I'm trying a new craft. I am working with felt and trying to make some homemade toys this year for Christmas. I will post pictures of my progress later. I am just going to have some fun.

Enjoying Fall

I love this time of year. The leaves are changing, the air is crisp, and it is beginning to cool down. I decided today to let the girls out to roam. I have 5 chickens that i have always referred to as "the girls".  I could sit and watch them for hours. I took pictures of them and our yard. I love living in the country, you always have nature around you and amazing photo opportunities. Today is defiantly soup weather, which means its getting closer to the holidays. I can't wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I just love having family around.

I have a doll that I made that I just can't figure out the face. I can't find something that I love yet so its still a work in progress.  My son is in love with the bear, and thinks it is perfect. They were super duper easy to make. I enjoyed making both but just can't seem to finish her face. aggh!!!!!

Enjoying Nature

I had such an amazing summer taking pictures of nature around us. I am in the process of making my new line of necklaces. My last line was donated to the Triumph Gala's silent auction in support of breast cancer. I am trying some different things this year so I hope they are successful.
